#Breaking social barriers and creating opportunities WordPress in Nepal
It will be about how WordPress changes lives in Nepal, creating entrepreneurs, job opportunists and freedom to express through online media. This all changes within the last 5 years. Nepal is least developed country, where all development works are really slow but WordPress has proven that we all can develop and work hard for the betterment of life.
At current stage, we have more that 50 companies who works around WordPress projects such as themes, plugins, marketplace and client projects. There are equally high number of freelancers working in companies like Upwork and Codeable. Now, majority of national media houses/newspapers/businesses are using WordPress for their online presence.
Our community is small but that doesn’t stop us from giving back to the community. We have active monthly meetups, an event that has now spread to cities other than Kathmandu starting with the WordPress Pokhara and Biratnagar Meetups. It has almost become a trend in Nepal for young people to want to go abroad for their studies or work. We make it a point that they realize the potential of WordPress. For in the WordPress community it is always the more, the merrier. WordPress has helped the youth of Nepal to stay in the country and contribute to the community, all the while deriving benefits from it.
The result is a lively and active WordPress community in Nepal. There is an increase of Nepali people contributing back to WordPress in the core, accessibility, polygots, suports, themes, plugins, community, meta and TV.
